IRINA VOROBIEVA

Former Soviet pairs champion Irina Vorobieva passed away on April 12 at age 63.

Born in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg) in June 1958, Vorobieva was selected from hundreds of children as a possible future Olympian, and at age 12 became a member of the Soviet national team.

Vorobieva was subsequently selected by coach Tamara Moskvina to try the pairs discipline
