Kia Ora!

Mother’s Day came early for my mum Ineke, who was my date for the very(below). She loved the music, moves and celebrities, especially former boxer Dave Letele – if you’re not already an adoring fan, turn to page 18 to develop a crush! Mum and I were gutted when Sonia Gray was eliminated, but at least her dreamboat Dave was still in the competition as we went to press. A couple of days later, my sister and I also took Mum to a preview screening of the new movie, which was equal parts enchanting and ridiculous. It reminded me of the time I met actor Hugh Bonneville, aka the Earl of Grantham, on a visit to Auckland and had him sign a handkerchief for Mum. (If my sister hadn’t recently provided her with a grandson, I’d easily be the favourite child!) If you’re looking for ways to spoil your mum, check out our baking ideas on page 70. Or flick back to page 2 to treat her to a subscription to – you could win $5000 cash!
