Green MP Julie Anne ‘BOTH MY BABIES ARE WORLD FAMOUS!’

With a bulging belly and a bag full of overnight gear, Green Party MP Julie Anne Genter climbed onto her e-bike and rode to Wellington Hospital as labour pains seared through her abdomen last November.

But despite the contractions coming every two minutes and lasting 60 seconds at a time, the politician continued pedalling, excited to meet her new baby girl.

It wasn’t the first time Julie Anne had ditched the car for a bike ride while about to deliver. When she and partner Peter Nunns welcomed their first-born son Joaquin in 2018, the former Minister for Women made international headlines after cycling to Auckland City Hospital to give birth.
