KICK OFF: You are back fit again after a lengthy spell on the sidelines with a thigh injury. That must be a relief?
Darren Keet: It was one of those where I wasn’t quite aware of how bad it was or how bad it would be. And I just carried on as normal, hoping it would get better, but it never did. Eventually I went for an MRI scan and all the necessary X-rays and stuff. And after consulting two or three different doctors, just to make sure, we eventually figured out that it was an injury that needed an operation with a six to seven months recovery time. With the whole process, it’s been about nine months.
And it could not have come at a worse time just as you joined Cape Town City …
Joining City at the beginning of the season, knowing what the club wants from me and what I want from the club, only to then get hit with the injury, it has been a bit of a rollercoaster of emotions. In terms of me being involved [with the team], I didn’t really feel like I could offer much, it was difficult. Obviously I can offer my experience, my advice, my thoughts and stuff. But at the end of the day, I’m here to play and to win games. But I’m expecting a lot from myself to produce for the club. And they’re also expecting me to produce for them. But
