51 ESSENTIAL SURVIVAL TIPS

CRAFTING AND BUILDING TIPS

■ Save inventory space by crafting items into blocks (e.g. diamonds into a block of diamond). Each block of diamond contains 9 diamonds, and you can stack 64 of them, allowing you to carry 276 in one slot.

■ Build your first shelter close to your initial spawn point so that you don’t lose track of it when you die!

■ Make sure to plan a build before you start, whether that’s on paper, making a floor plan, or just visualising it in your head – that way you’ll know what blocks and items you need before you get started and won’t run out mid-build!

■ Light your builds carefully – if you leave dark areas, it might allow mobs to spawn there. Pick a strong light source, such as a torch or lantern, to safeguard your area.

■ Try to avoid using basic blocks like cobblestone and dirt to build – as well as looking ugly, they’re both quite soft and therefore easy for creepers to destroy if they blow up nearby.
