Credit where credit is due, but when the Darcinator says, “Mate, you’ve got to come do this ride. The route is just awesome, and it supports an extremely worthy cause,” experience tells you he’s not one prone to exaggeration. It will be a good ride.
As a long-time serving officer of the NSW Police, Dave became involved with the annual Wall to Wall: Ride for Remembrance a few years ago when it was proposed that the road bike-biased ride to recognise the service and sacrifice of police officers killed in the line of duty include an adventure bike component.
Dave immediately tapped the shoulder of the team at RideADV to help with staging the activity, and trail boss Greg Yager leapt into the task boots and all. A multi-day ride was mapped out, departing from the NSW Police Wall of Remembrance in downtown Sydney — complete with a police escort out of the CBD! — and taking aim on the National Police Memorial in Canberra. Along the way the riding would include some of the best ADV terrain on offer in central western NSW and the NSW Southern Tablelands.
