Much Ado About Nothing isn’t one of my favourite Shakespeare plays, though its title is brilliant. Next time you’re down the pub, ask your local 16th-century language expert to explain what ‘nothing’ meant in Elizabethan slang, but make sure your wife or girlfriend’s out of hearing.
Nonetheless, despite its saucy name, our local amateur theatre decided to stage it last summer — no little achievement as the majority of the players are in full-time jobs.
