Orange & Anise Knots with Orange Glaze
These charming knots can beautifully round out a brunch menu, see you through an afternoon energy slump, or stand alone as a memorable dessert. While anise can be a somewhat polarising flavour, the earthy liquorice element works well here as it highlights the bright, juicy citrus character of the orange glaze. I first came across this flavour combination when I was developing a more versatile iteration of Spanish olive oil tortas, and I love it just as much in this context. Weekend project alert! This is one of the more labour-intensive recipes in the book, so make plans to share them with friends who will be suitably impressed by your extraordinary baking talents.
