Tenders for high latitudes

I read with interest Mike Jones’s article in the April issue about his trip to Svalbard on Firebird. Great pictures by the way! There is one of his suggestions [on] ice conversion that I don’t agree with and should be noted for a wider audience.

He is recommending an aluminium bottomed tender for beach landings. I assume this can only be a RIB. Standard kit on high latitude yachts
