Australia is currently in the grip of a La Niña weather cycle, creating abundant rainfall across the continent.
It’s a reminder that as well as hosting many drought-tolerant plant species our country is also home to beautiful, intriguing and useful aquatic plants — some of them edible.
The first water plant that often springs to gardeners’ minds is the water lily with its spectacular flowers. Indeed, we have a number of beautiful members of this group that can be readily grown in a garden pond or dam.
