George S. Patton Jr., War As I Knew It (1947)
he legendary U.S. Army general known as “Old Blood and Guts” churned out the manuscript for this memoir in 1945 after the end of World War II, but when he died from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in December of that year, his widow, Beatrice Ayer Patton, took over the project and saw it through to publication.
