SARAH GRAHAM WAS JUST TWO-AND-A HALF when her nursery teachers noticed her early and extraordinary talent at drawing. Growing up, painting was a constant in her life, giving her strength and confidence as she navigated her way through her much-loved father’s various manic episodes with bipolar.
After completing a degree in fine art painting in 2000, Sarah has mostly been pursuing her practice ever since. Featuring toys, kitsch paraphernalia and sweets – perhaps inspired by a part-time teen job on the pick ‘n’ mix counter at Woolworths – she firstly works on an acrylic underpainting and then paints the final in oil.
