LOS ANGELES — Orange County, California, prosecutors are reviewing cases worked by a DNA expert who has been accused by defense attorneys of altering her analysis to help win convictions.

The probe will target only active cases — likely no more than a handful — that relied on testimony from the DNA expert, Mary Hong.

But in more than 30 years with the Orange County Crime Lab, Hong was involved in hundreds of criminal prosecutions.
