There are many essential survival items that people must carry and one important item that often doesn’t make the pack is the emergency shelter, says the NZ Mountain Safety Council (MSC).
Packing an emergency shelter doesn’t mean carrying large amounts of additional gear, it’s about assessing the type of trip, the expected terrain and the forecasted weather, which narrows down the appropriate form of emergency shelter.
