 Tate’s solitary prison sitcom

Streaming: Netflix, full season

Catherine Tate’s talent for character comedy is on full display here. She created this mockumentary about a women’s prison and plays multiple roles, from Laura Willis, the well-meaning governor of the fictional HMP Woldsley, to psychopathic lifer Big Viv and a barely recognisable prison guard. Willis decrees that participating in a musical-theatre production will help the inmates on their road to rehabilitation, and the series follows them over six episodes as they pitch in. At the time of writing, only the trailer is available – it looks like a riot.
