With ever-greater demand for UK holidays, the idea of hiring a motorhome or campervan is becoming increasingly popular. This has also seen growth in the number of owners hiring out their own models.
Instead of leaving your motorhome in storage between trips, hiring it out can come with plenty of benefits, including generating extra income, keeping the ‘van moving and supporting more sustainable travel. However, as with everything, there is plenty to think about before renting out your own motorhome.
DOES IT NEED TO BE A SPECIFIC TYPE?
Any motorhome or campervan can be hired out. As long as it has a valid MoT, has regular maintenance checks and gas and electricity certificates, then you should be able to hire it out.
Some models, layouts and sizes are more popular and therefore easier to rent. These factors include the type of motorhome you have, be that an overcab coachbuilt, a pop-top camper or an A-class; the age and condition of your ‘van; how many berths and travel seats it has; the time of year you are renting it out; whether family pets are allowed to travel in it, and any other personal rules or restrictions you may put in place.
