In December 2009, three days after Christmas Day, my brother Jake died. It was a short, brutal, and entirely unexpected illness, the aftermath of which would see me facing the rest of my life without a little brother. The eldest son of a tightly knit, loving family of five, I was a mere two years older than Jacob – Jake – Harley, and had known him for what might as well have been my entire life.
