When Soviet private Sergey, this is a labour of love for Prior, co-writing with director Peeter Rebane. is sensitively told and handsomely made, although having its multinational cast all speak in English arguably robs it of some of its nuance. There’s also a curious flatness to a narrative that makes its points with eloquence and emotion… and then makes them again.
