Based on a prequel manga (itself the inspiration for a hit anime series), this epic yarn follows Yuta Okkotsu, a nervous teenager haunted by a childhood curse that physically manifests as a horrific, bloodthirsty creature. Yuta enrols in a special school dedicated to fighting such curses, providing the springboard for extreme bloodshed and some terrific monster designs. The story’s darker elements are offset by a touching tale of friendship and dabs of offbeat humour (one character talks only in rice-ball ingredients). Frenetic fun for fans and newcomers alike.
