Clockwise around Britain for charity

Eastbourne skipper Mike Hopkins is preparing for his first circumnavigation around Britain. He is planning a clockwise passage, north of Orkney and Shetland, aboard his 1986 Moody 31 MkII, Sea Wanderer to raise £20,000 for the palliative, neurological and bereavement support charity, Sue Ryder.

He aims to set off in June to complete the 3,500-mile voyage in three months. Mike was inspired to support the charity following the death of his mother in April 2008, which coincided with his 50th birthday.
