The power train and most of its ancillaries were contained in an aluminium casting, slightly altered from the /5 version, but still imposingly large. Within, the new design one-piece forged crankshaft ran on shell-type bearings, as did the 180-degree spaced connecting-rods. The 70.6mm stroke continued from the earlier series.
