Sunbeam Model 90 carburettor

Sunbeam Bullnose Model 90 enthusiast Mick Easton writes: “You make mention of the AMAC TT carburettor fitted to your original 1927 Sunbeam Model 90 in your YWA column (March 2022, page 78). These instruments are stamped on the side of the body M90, rather than TT90 as you quoted.”

Mick adds: “We currently believe there are the following numbers of genuine Bullnoses extant: 1927 Model 80 - five 1927 Model 90 - 24 1928 Model 80 - three 1928 Model 90 – 23

The Model 80s (347cc, 70x90mm bore x stroke) are included in the above as they share their cycle parts with the Model 90 (493cc, 80x93mm). The frame numbers for both are from the same sequence.”

Thank you for your email, Mick. Case of failing memory… And my eyesight seemingly isn’t much better! The AMAC TT on my Bullnose does indeed have M90 stamped on its body, which I’d forgotten, and what I read was TT90 stamped in tiny script to the base of the body. Son Peter has looked at this indistinct stamping and thinks it could read LI 90 (or 96) but it may read TT90 or even LT90.
