Reaching out my arms, I folded them into a cradle as the midwife lowered my baby into my arms.
I’d just had a water birth with no pain relief – everything had gone to plan.
Now, at last, I was holding our firstborn, a baby girl.
I looked down at her whilst my husband Jay, 39, stroked her face.
‘She’s perfect,’ he said.
We named her Amelie.
As time passed, Amelie grew into a happy, little baby.
She giggled when she was played with and her eyes lit up at toys.
We were so happy.
