Regular readers will be familiar with Nicola Dodd’s gorgeous one-of-a-kind quilts. Their quintessentially British aesthetic is perhaps not a surprise given Nicola’s background in conservation architecture and garden design. Maybe what is more surprising is that quilting only came into her life around a decade ago.

She says, “I love textile crafts, but I was a serial hobby starter – I have an embarrassing number of half-completed tapestries, half-knitted scarves and the like jammed at the back of cupboards. But to everyone’s astonishment, mine included, not only did I finish my first quilt, but I’ve been quilt-making ever since.” Her discovery of quilting was a fortunate stroke of serendipity. “A couple of years earlier, I’d fallen in love with Tilda prints – whimsical, romantic designs by designer Tone Finnanger – though I had no idea
