STEP BY STEP How to plant a potted rose

Plant a rose bush now, while the weather is mild and planting conditions are best for the plant to establish. It’s tempting to buy a rose in flower but roses planted in summer will need a lot more water to keep them alive. Ideal planting conditions are when the soil is moist, the sun isn’t too strong and there is little wind. Finish with a mulch of rotted manure, to help keep moisture around the rose’s roots and give it a feed that lasts all season.
