It has been a mixed month for fans of classic gaming and Nintendo. The Japanese giant used a Nintendo Direct video presentation to announce and showcase plenty of Switch projects with their roots in gaming history. Days later, it announced the schedule for the closure of the 3DS and Wii U eShop stores, and did so in a way that ruffled the feathers of players.
Let’s start off with the positives, a cult favourite SNES RPG, is being remade using the HD-2D graphical style seen in games such as . The game is famed for offering a variety of scenarios with different gameplay features, which can be tackled in any order. This will be the first official English release of the game, and it is due for release on 22 July. Tactical RPG is also being remade, this time by Forever Entertainment, the Polish studio behind the remake. This mech battler originated on the SNES and despite appearing on various platforms since, has never appeared in Europe before. The new version will feature brand-new graphics but retains the isometric battle viewpoint.
