It was also the last of only five games to make use of the SNES controller and mouse, in addition to the Super Scope (see boxout). With the gun having come out in 1992, ’s programmer John Buckley was well aware of it before the project began. “I first came across the Super Scope while still working on ,” he recalls. “My first thought was that it was like a sledgehammer to crack a nut! The general consensus among the programmers was to stay well away. I was lucky as I had experience of lightguns from a project, a LaserDisc arcade game. I worked in the arcade industry for these guys in the early Eighties before entering the computer and console market, so this helped to get up to speed when the Super Scope project was given to me.”
