he pantomime character Widow Twankey (shown in an 1896 image) derives her name from a type of cheap China tea. In which introduced the widow. The name Byron used for her, originally Twankay, referred to an inferior brand of green tea from the Tunxi district of eastern China. To audiences at the time, the name would have subtly implied that the widow was well past her prime.
