Warsaw in five places

1 Royal Castle Symbol of rebirth

In the heart of the Old Town stands the Royal Castle. The first wooden tower on this site was built in the 14th century by the dukes of Masovia, then developed into a royal residence after Warsaw was incorporated into the kingdom of Poland. In the late 16th century, Sigismund III Vasa moved his court from Kraków to Warsaw, and commissioned a revamp of the castle.
