Rest In Cheese

On its last day in business, Little Peckish, a Wellington cafe known for its authentic Southland cheese rolls, was running out of “southern sushi”, as cheese rolls are sometimes known. In fact, they were running out of almost everything.

Customers kept streaming in. Between teary farewells, co-owner Mark Peck dashed to wholesaler Moore Wilson’s twice that morning to buy more eggs, sausages and mushrooms. His wife of 45 years, Margaret, used what was left to keep up with demand.
