The misty variety: origins and first UK appearance

LAST year, I was asked to judge three Budgerigar Society championship shows. At one, I was pleasantly surprised when a fellow judge, Ron Pearce, requested me to confirm the variety and colour of an exhibit. Having bred the variety for a number of years, I recognised it as a misty skyblue. The same exhibit was shown at two other championship shows where I judged.

I have seen the misty at various sale events and small shows over the years since it appeared in my aviary. Now that the variety is being shown the Rare Varieties magazine and the fancy in Australia. I have featured this variety in lectures given throughout the country, including the Rare Varieties BS where I was guest speaker.
