BEFORE last year’s breeding season, I had arranged to exchange a yellow green Norwich hen for a blue, cinnamon carrier Norwich cock with fellow fancier Rob. I had already exchanged birds with him in the past, as we were pursuing similar lines to establish a strain of selfgreen and cinnamon Norwich.

Covid and show cancellations meant I got the blue cock couriered, along with some pied redpolls from him. The courier was unable to take my yellow hen in return, so I was still looking for a way to get her to him before this year’s breeding season. Then with the Nantwich show cancelled, I arranged a family get-together which we would normally have done anyway.
