10 THINGS THAT MAKE A TACTICAL KNIFE

What is a tactical knife? Every knife company makes them, and everyone seems to carry one. Even so, I’ve heard some people claim, “There’s no difference between a regular knife and a tactical knife. They’re the same — one’s just colored black.”

This leads me to ask a question: Is there a difference between a combat handgun and a regular handgun? Damn right there is! But unless you know what those differences are, you can’t tell. Both have a barrel and shoot, just like every other gun. However, there are characteristics that, in extreme situations, can spell the difference between life and death.

Similarly, there are differences between a tactical knife and a regular knife that can be discerned under certain circumstances. Presented here are 10 of them.

1 DESIGN AND PURPOSE

The design of a knife should reflect the needs of the user and the environment in which the user operates. When NASA asked me to design a knife for use on the International Space Station, they gave me a list of tasks for which it was needed, including some that were very specific and unique. I designed the knife to fit those needs.
