AN OWNER’S TALE

When East Sussex-based farmer and contractor Kim Parks managed to acquire a significant, manure-spreading contract in the mid-1980s, he decided he needed something a bit bigger than his existing Ford 7610 for the task. What he ended up choosing was the articulated Massey Ferguson 1200, which was a bit of a departure considering the family farm had always been ‘blue’ since the days of the Fordson Diesel Major and the Dexta.

Kim had first experienced the Massey Ferguson 1200 and its benefits of pivot steer and true four-wheel-drive back in 1975, when he saw a brand-new example at work on demonstration
