Every family historian knows the importance of getting your facts right. The Genealogical Proof Standard (GPS) requires all the facts and events we record about our ancestors to be backed up in the form of proof, from documentary evidence to personal photographs and other family memorabilia.

Traditionally, family history programs place the cart before the horse: record the fact, then attach a source to it.
