Johnny Vegas

Johnny Vegas has now achieved national treasure status. He’s best-known for his roles in programmes such as Benidorm, Still Open All Hours and 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, and in adverts for ITV Digital and PG Tips. However, when I first photographed him, back in December 1998, I had absolutely no idea who he was.

I’d been commissioned by the to shoot portraits for an article about him, but at the time. His work as a comedian had been restricted to the stage, but he had a growing cult following – which was why the wanted to feature him.
