THE SEA MONSTER OF THE OKI ISLANDS

Now, Tokoyo was a very brave and determined girl with many hobbies. She loved to arrange flowers, paint beautiful letters, ride galloping horses and practise martial arts. Tokoyo was not afraid of the water – in fact, she would dive deep into the ocean to gather oysters!

Her family lived together happily for a while, but then misfortune struck. Japan was governed by a proud and cruel man named Hojo Takatoki. When Oribe accidentally offended Takatoki, the ruler banished him to the distant Oki Islands.
