    COMPANY NAME: Albert E. James, also known as COUNTRYWIDE SEEDS

    SUMMARY: Cage bird and pigeon specialist feed supplier, a Bristol-based company. Many of the mixes are excellent and popular with top breeders of budgies, canaries and British finches.

    PRODUCT RANGE: Specialist seeds: straights and probably best known for its high-end mixes. Countrywide has an arrangement with the Budgerigar Society whereby members sell seed and the society collects a fee for organising the scheme. Lots of fanciers buy in bulk and sell to club members, and their system seems popular and works well.

    ONLINE RESOURCES: The information about products is excellent. We would like to see an accessible list of major stockists and distributors.

    DELIVERY OPTIONS: Delivery is available in bulk (by the pallet) and products are available on mail-order and the costs are built into the price on the website.

    WE LIKE: The well-established practice that a club can earn from the sale of seed by working with Countrywide.
