’m part of the community growing team at London’s food-growing cooperative Organiclea and my work involves supporting communities to create stronger, more connected and resilient growing projects and to encourage people to work together to bring their vision to life. I know from first-hand experience how daunting it can be to set up a community garden, but I’ve also seen some incredible places flourish as a result of a group of committed people joining forces, creativity, skills, knowledge and enthusiasm. There are so many ways a community garden can turn out – every project will be beautifully unique – but there are a few guiding principles to consider and some practical steps that will help you get started.
