Their time in the spotlight may long since have fizzled, but Custard’s quirks shine as bright as ever on their eighth studio album, such that it’s unequivocally their best post-reunion, no doubt due in part to the return of bassist Paul Medew to the songwriting ranks. His indie-pop gem is charming, and his likewise. The playful, tongue-in-cheek sarcasm and searing wit strike at every turn.
