Standing in the playground, I watched as my son’s little legs sprinted towards the roundabout for yet another spin. It was 2007 and I loved seeing James’ wide eyes as he called out ‘Come on, Mum!’ excitedly – at three, all he wanted was his mum to play with him. ‘I’m just coming,’ I told him sheepishly. But at 16st and a size 22, even just a few quick steps across that tarmac left me heaving for breath and my whole body sweating.
