Gas exploration Close but no cigar!

he existence of a gas reservoir in ‘Block 4’ has not been verified but the existence of the basic elements of a geological-oil system has been confirmed, as shown by initial drilling results carried out by French oil giant Total. Total is the operator of Block 4 through its local subsidiary Total E&P Liban on behalf of an international oil consortium that includes Italy’s ENI and Russia’s Novatek. The consortium was awarded contracts to drill in blocks 4 and 9. Total will specify, in the near-term, the location of the well to be drilled by its subcontractors in Block 9 of Lebanon’s waters, according to , board member at the Lebanese Petroleum Administration (LPA) and head of LPA’s Geology and Geophysics Unit. Total intends to continue its local exploration activities for the time being and is preparing for drilling work at the well
