1 PORCUPINE

Porcupines can be found almost anywhere, in nearly all types of terrain. But the savannahs of East and southern African are a good a place to start your search. During the day, they may cohabit with warthogs in holes in termite mounds; they also like rocky crevices, caves, hollow logs and burrows. After dark, they fossick for food, using regular trails. Ask your guide where these are, and look for tell-tale signs of digging, discarded quills and fresh droppings.
