CABERNET SAUVIGNON

94 Sparkman 2018 Evermore Old Vines Cabernet Sauvignon (Columbia Valley). This is 100% varietal, with fruit coming from Dionysus (57%), Gamache (29%) and Boushey (14%) vineyards. The aromas are generous in their appeal, with notes of plum, cherry, leaf and herb. Plump feeling fruit flavors follow, showing a lot of richness and a high thread count, with coffee notes intertwined throughout. There’s a tart lick of black fruit that ties it all together on the finish. It shows a whole lot of polish. It’s a thinking person’s Cabernet with a lot to consider. Best after 2026. Cellar Selection. —S.S.
