Annuals represent a wonderful, commitment-free way to experiment with color, height and texture, but more often than not, shopping for annuals results in a predictable mix of impatiens, wax begonia and petunia—the plants found at every garden center and hardware store each May. Yet there are planty of unusual and dramatic alternatives that could be included in a garden, with a bit of advance planning and sourcing.
