Can you explain the impact of Universal Credit on benefits for my disabled son?
Q My son is 50 and lives at home with my wife and me. He has a learning disability, but currently works 16 hours a week as a cleaner.
He receives £47.40 a week lower level of Disability Living Allowance (DLA). This is being replaced by Personal Independence Payment (PIP). In due course my son will be reassessed. I understand that both DLA and its successor PIP will remain outside the scope of Universal Credit so that the amount my son gets will not be affected by the level of his income or capital/savings, though
