OVERCOMING STIGMA

I have been working in the medical, psychological, and psychiatric world for the past forty years plus. This is an immensely fascinating world where you can apply all your academic, medical, pharmacologic, and theoretical skills. I see people from a vast variety of backgrounds, old-young, male-female, cultural, race, financial and many other. As I often reflect in my inner world, I am always aware that there are other factors that play a part in every human being. Something that cannot be measured or quantified. Those are aspects like empathy, resilience, acceptance, stigma, being able to fully understand another human being and even the broad term of ‘love.’ As with all mental illness I find these especially relevant to sexual orientation.
