Which way to the championships?
COTSWOLD CUP
QUALIFICATION PERIOD: APRIL-SEPTEMBER
OVERVIEW: unaffiliated eventing series aimed at grassroots competitors.
Qualifying events take place across the Cotswolds, with the championships boasting a £10,000 prize pot for winners of the open classes and training bursaries with renowned event riders for juniors.
FORMAT: points are awarded to horse and rider combinations placed in the top 10 at the qualifiers and for any competitors who record double clears, but finish outside the top 10.
Once all qualifiers have taken place, the top 50 qualifying scores will advance to the championships.
LEVEL: 70cm, 80cm, 90cm, 100cm. Each class includes a junior section for riders aged 10-18, as well as senior.
CHAMPIONSHIPS: Cirencester Park, Glos, 23-25 September.
MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS: none.
ELIGIBILITY: horses cannot have acquired points at British Eventing (BE) novice level or above in the preceding two seasons, while riders in the 70cm, 80cm and 90cm classes cannot have competed at advanced level or above in the previous five years. The 100cm is open to any rider.
