On watch in Gaddafi’s Libya

The story of the lost Panerai in Octane 224 reminded me of an Omega-related tale from 2008, when I was the staff writer for a motorcycle magazine called Two Wheels Only. We ran a series of features called ‘Jet and Rent’. British Airways would give us tickets to destinations they were struggling to sell to and in return we’d fly there armed with only a camera, a helmet and a bit of local currency. The aim was to hire a bike locally and find adventure until the money ran out.
