New York-born Lin-Manuel Miranda captured the musical theatre world’s attention when he arrived on Broadway at the age of just 28 with his show , exploring gentrification in the Dominican American neighbourhood of Washington Heights and starring Miranda in the lead role. It was his 2015 rap musical about the American Founding Father Alexander Hamilton which skyrocketed Miranda to success, now with 11 Tonys and a Pulitzer to its creator Jonathan Larson’s musical to the big screen.
